A
Sailor-Boy's Tale
A Sailor -Boy's
Tale was written by Karen Blixen - Finecke von Christenze or Karen Dinesen. She
was a Danish author also known by her pen name Isak Dinesen. She is the author
of many books and tales, whose best-known novel is “Out of Africa” that was
adapted to the big screen by Sidney Pollack.
The story
narrates the experiences of a young sailor who sails the seas in different vessels
round the world. In this tale are mixed youthful love, unexpected tragedy and
fantastic characters that have certain powers to transform their appearance.
Everything
happens in a small Norwegian port, where sailors from different countries,
coexist with the locals (Lapps) in a mystical setting such as the long days of
spring in northern Scandinavia. In this context, a story of impossible love comes between our young sailor and a beautiful girl
where fate plays a dirty trick on them, but both (Nora and Simon) will never
forget.
The writer
masterfully combines all these elements (love, mystery, fantasy and gratitude)
in a short story that intrigue readers till the end, which is unexpected and wonderful.
It is a tale that reminds us the connection between all living beings on this
planet.
